I am a mother, grandmother, researcher and teacher. I always assumed that my value as professor, would be measured, not by the knowledge I expressed..., but by the flights, and by the wingspan of my students. I tried to respect all those who crossed paths with me in life... but to my students, consciously or not, I dedicated my joy, tenderness and energy of instigation, motivation, obligation to reflect on things. Now that I realize that my life is lengthening and renewing itself, I realize that because I love my job so much - the daily routines, the students, going about in the classrooms - I feel that, after all, I've always been very active and dedicated, but in fact, I almost never worked... I lived times and spaces of incredible pleasure and breathing life.

- The " Emotional Competence Veiga Scale " (EVCE) (Veiga-Branco, 2005, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) consists of 86 itens/ statements, to operationalize the five dimensions of emotional competence: Self-awareness - 20 items; Emotion Management - 19 items; a Self-motivation - 21 items; Empathy - 12 items; Social Emotions Management - 14 items. These items are constituted as ordinal variables, measured by a Lickert-type temporal frequency scale (1 to 7, with 1 - "never", 2 - "rarely", 3 - "infrequent", 4- "As a rule", 5 - "frequent", 6 - "very frequent" and 7 - "always"), where participants can choose the frequency with which they experience the situations described. Veiga-Branco (2000a, 2000b, 2004) studies Emotional Competence (EC) in the context of teachers and teaching-learning process. Starts its work based on the modified EI concept (Goleman, 1995, 1999), which he operated when he perceive the added value of EC, reflecting what the author explores in (1999:341): the expression "emotional competence" includes both social and emotional competencies, and clarifies that "emotional competence is an apprehended skill, (...) that results in an extraordinary performance at work" (1999: 33), where she pointed out that: "Our Emotional Intelligence determines our potential to learn practical skills that are based on five elements: Self Consciousness, motivation, self-control, empathy and talent in relationships. Our emotional competence shows the extent to which we translate this potential into professional skills". Thus, later (Veiga-Branco, 2005, p. 171) distinguishes this concept from that of EI, arguing that "EC exists when one reaches a desired level of realization", and concerns the post facto. It can only be assessed simultaneously or after the display of behaviours and/or attitudes, through observation or through the expressed memories, by the executors or by observers. In his work, which reveal a mixed model of Emotional Competence, Veiga-Branco (2005) assumes that the variables of oneness must be considered (...) The author creates an Analysis Tool: the Veiga Branco Scale of Intelligence Skills (EVBCIE) (Veiga-Branco, 2000a, 2000b, 2004, 2005), later reformulated for Veiga Scale of Emotional Competence (EVCE) (Veiga-Branco, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015ª, 2017, 2018), and now, EVCEr33, after a reduction.
